A day of hiking, connections and thought

Control, what does the concept mean? I used to think that the concept of control meant things must be done MY way. Now I sit with a different idea of the meaning.

Yesterday, myself and a few other amazing individuals (fellow Yoginis) came together to enjoy the great outdoors. We scaled the paths of Camelback Mtn. With my mind greatly stimulated by the surrounding, crisp cool fall air and amazing conversations; I found my mind unlocked and free to be in the present moment.

As the morning turned into day, the moments found food, conversations, offerings and a sense of oneness that continued as we began our descend. When a random question was asked by someone within the group my mind grabbed on and could not let go. "Do you feel more in control going up or coming down?" With a quick response I witnessed myself answering the question with, "coming down." Why is that I wondered.

The deeper I meditated on this thought, question, concept I found that as I descended I was more aware of my surroundings, feelings, emotions and sensations within my mind and body. With each step I noticed a decision making process taking place. My mind quickly assessing where to place each foot to provide a safe and rapped transition for one spot to the next. I noticed the sensations from my toes as they met the earth to the activation of muscular energy within my legs providing strength to support each step. I noticed the beating of my heart as blood feed the cells within my body with the fuel needed to maintain each movement.

I was the witness to the movements within my body. Being the witness, I found myself truly present; being present I found Control.
